Look into working abroad under Spend & invest, then review the next year’s visa, family and job conditions. Moving can end your current work.
Start with research in the spending menu
Open Spend & invest, expand More if necessary and find Moving. In the checked Bangladesh run, Look into working abroad cost $116 at 35. The record confirmed that the character began examining jobs and visa rules. A migration decision followed at 36. This was a paid preparation step followed by a later opportunity, not an instant country selector.
The real-home-country setting at the start of the game is unrelated. It changes a comparison, not the character’s residence. Research also should not be read as a promise that every life will receive the same destinations.
Read all four parts of the offer
Our offer was India or Malaysia, each costing about $9,500. Both described a skilled-worker route, allowed the child to accompany the character and explicitly said Leave your current work. Stay was also available. The important comparison was not just which country had the higher GDP.
- Check the destination and whether the route allows your current family to come.
- Compare the actual moving charge with savings available now.
- Read whether your current job or business ends.
- Keep room for the period after arrival and inspect the next work offers before spending heavily.
A business sale can change the result
We chose Malaysia. The life record said the law office was handed over for $231K; the identity panel changed to Kuala Lumpur and Looking for work. Savings rose sharply, but the job did not travel with the character. This is direct evidence of one business exit, not a promise that migration always pays a sale price or creates a windfall.
At 37, the available offers included teacher at $25,086, security guard at $11,646 and street vendor at $11,922 in US-PPP terms. The previous lawyer career was not among those offers. Compare actual employment choices with what you gave up.
Recheck the whole budget after arrival
The destination changes more than the flag. Costs, investment options and borrowing terms can differ. Bangladesh’s menu showed an extra 1% annual fee for a global index; Malaysia’s showed 0.5%. Homes to let also allowed different financing. A guide based on the old country can therefore become wrong immediately after moving.
Inspect income, housing, school costs, insurance and available investments before reenabling a spending routine. The country table’s GDP per person remains context, not a personal wage forecast. In our run the move also brought a $109K home offer; delaying a large purchase gave us time to examine the new work situation.
Finally, verify Lives in and the life record. They confirm that the character arrived, which family members came and what work was lost. The observed one-year wait and prices are examples from v0.7.82, not fixed requirements for all countries.
